Abstract: | Contemplating Malta’s polity architecture and processes of policy-making requires a thorough understanding of how it engages with the EU. Mapping out the versatility of institutional protagonists from across European, national and local levels of governance helps to identify in what ways is Malta being affected and to what extent it is affecting the ever evolving European integration project. To this effect, this chapter is segmented into three parts. First, it will present a set of theoretical aspects related to Europeanisation and Multi-Level Governance that will set a conceptual framework to decipher the roles and actions of the protagonists involved. Next, our look will, first, turn to how and who is responsible to ascertain Malta’s voice in the EU’s institutions. Then, we will delve into the domestic arena to single out the structures and mediating organisations that are bound to coordinate EU policy at national level. |
