Abstract: This study is aimed to analyse the impact of Government bureaucracy on nature parks administered by Nature Trust (Malta). Interviews were held with all the major stakeholders of the management boards of the three nature parks referred to in this research, namely the three public entities and the NGO. This research reports that although bureaucracy is essential when dealing with a large organisation such as the Public Service due to increased accountability and transparency, it can hinder an NGO's work, which is mainly supported by volunteers. One hopes that the setup of units such as the Better Regulation Unit will promote culture change in the Public Service, improve Government regulations and reduce administrative burdens and work duplication. Ultimately, further consideration is being recommended for the devolution of nature parks with the imposition of a subsidised ground rent to NGOs and other entities as in the case of sports grounds to sports associations. In addition, one may consider fast track procedures to projects that are being funded by international agencies.
