dc.description.abstract | Irregular migration from East to West and from South to North is a perennial dilemma which the European Union and its Member States are struggling to deal with. The issue concerning illegal migration has escalated following the Arab Spring and the Syrian Conflict, and together with Brexit and the Eurozone crisis, has been at the centre of the EU’s political debates. All these issue have enabled a number of anti-establishment parties across Europe to frame these issues and challenge the popularity and status quo of mainstream parties in Europe, together with the Dublin regulation II that binds EU member states to protect asylum seekers.
