Abstract

This long essay focuses on the development of an information unit within the Economic Policy Division of the Ministry for Economic Services. It identifies the salient features of an information unit and outlines the importance of creating a collection development policy for the establishment and management of a library and information unit on professional lines. It profiles how the EPD Library and Information Unit can improve its services to cater for organisational needs, as well as those of outside users, especially through the opportunities offered by information and communication technology and against the backdrop of the Government wholesale initiatives involved in the eGovernment project.
