Abstract: | This long essay highlights a new classification of three types of prevention, focusing on specific types of population and the presence or absence of identifiable factors that require interventions by social workers. This research entails the identification of the possible connections between the three suggested types of Alcohol Prevention. Social workers, with their professional knowledge and skills, play an important role in the prevention of alcohol abuse and related problems. Important contributions are being given by these professionals as regards interventions related to Universal, Selective as well as Indicated Prevention and this research aims at exploring and get an understanding of such contributions. The objective of this research is to examine the various approaches and roles used by social workers in their interventions with the aim of preventing alcohol abuse and related problems. Recommendations are also being made in order to better the service provided in the Alcohol Prevention field. This research shows that in regards to Alcohol Prevention, the 'cure' can result in the prevention of further serious problems related to the abuse of Alcohol. |
