Abstract: Women's Rights in Malta and its historical development of the European Union's current policy on gender equality is endorsed through various legislative and policy frameworks, including the concept of gender mainstreaming into all EC policies. This dissertation aims at tracing the developments of legislation in the field of gender equality in Malta, from a legislative perspective, restricting it to the employment sector. Reference is made to the advent of the EU and its effects with focus on some particular aspects, together with reference to the practical applicability and success of such regulations. Hence it will evaluate measures that have been taken so far, and possibly assess whether they require further enhancement. Finally appraising whether, legislation has ensured that society's goals are being attained. Various questions are discussed to further evaluate whether Maltese legislation with respect to gender equality developed in line with the EU Acquis in the employment sector, thus evaluating the main Maltese legislative developments in this regard, viewing policies implemented into Maltese Legislation from the EU Acquis with regards to Women's Rights. Finally, have our Governments managed to eliminate all forms of discrimination on the grounds of sex?
