The purpose of this long essay was to gain a theoretical and practical knowledge of group therapy with alcoholic clients. My involvement as a participant observer in the group was directed towards gaining an understanding of the structure and function of the group in conjunction with the therapeutic techniques and interventions which seek to promote change, thus helping the individuals concerned cope more effectively with their respective life situations. Results of the study indicated that group therapy offered at Żerniq generated a positive output and outcome However there is also room for improvement in order for the service to be more effective and efficient.en_GB
