How are children affected by witnessing their parents' separation? Definitely. children might be relieved at the cessation of daily conflicts between their parents, however many of these children are simply unaware that such conflicts are serious enough to lead to a separation. When a separation between parents commences it sets off a long process which can effect children's lives in many ways, mainly, emotionally and socially. Some may start to blame themselves for the break up, feeling a great sadness. intense anger and a profound sense of loss, all of which tend to take a great toll on their emotional and physical well-being.en_GB
