Abstract: | Domestic violence is a reality in all societies. It cuts across all boundaries and is present in every class or ethnicity. Furthermore, this work focuses specifically on male perpetrators and women as victims. When one thinks about domestic violence, it is inevitable to ask but why do women stay? This study seeks to reply to this question, mainly by looking at society as a whole and what it is doing or what it should be doing to eradicate domestic violence from our families. This study focuses specifically on analysing a very small faction of the media, namely the daily newspapers, to try to understand whether these agents who have the power to influence the general public, do in fact attempt to raise awareness about this reality. |
