Abstract: This dissertation will assess the role of tourism on the island of Gozo. In Chapter two I will assess the importance of tourism to the economy of small islands within the Mediterranean region, mentioning the likes of the Greek Islands. Secondly I will assess the importance of the three niches; Sports, Health and Agri-tourism to the economy and tourism sector. The interviewees agreed upon meeting to discuss the topic and most importantly answer the questions which were asked. These questions analyzed Gozo's tourism sector mentioning why it is Gozo's main contributor and what are its benefits to the island. Questions regarding the three niches were also put forward in order to get information on how these sectors can improve the economy and also mitigate the problem of seasonality on the island. All of the interviewees presently hold a high rank in the tourism industry and in the sports, health and agricultural sectors. Results of this dissertation have shown that Gozo' s economy relies heavily on the tourism sector and it has all the potential to be one of the best destinations in the Mediterranean. In addition all interviewees agreed that if there is to be the right upgrading in the infrastructure and facilities, Gozo will attract more quality tourists and eventually there will be more job opportunities.
