Abstract: This study investigates the pathways that lead young Maltese females into criminality. It highlights the need for developing adequate aftercare and crime prevention programmes. The literature Review, besides summarising some of the female theories for crime, delves into the world of heroine-prostitution, which turned out to be one of the most important factors in the research. This work explored several case studies pertaining to female offenders, as well as the views and opinions of those people who work with them. Suggestions and recommendations including the possible liaison of Youth Work with the Correctional Services in Malta are also made.
