Abstract: This study explores the coming out process of gay men and lesbians to family members. It will be focusing on the relationship and feelings before and after coming out to family. We tried to see if there are any gender differences when it comes to accepting homosexuals. As our society is still very traditional, it tends to make it difficult for family members to accept their child's sexual orientation. Our research is based on the experiences of four interviewees, two gay men and two lesbians aged between 20 and 40 years and a member of each of their families. The study concludes that there is a slight gender difference when it comes to acceptance by their family members. It is also recommended that there should be more awareness and education about homosexuality.
