Abstract: Life is a series of transitions. It is a part of the normal process of growing up. The aim of a Vocational Habilitation Programme for young people with mental disability, is to facilitate and encourage the process of transition from a rather sheltered environment to the socio-cultural environment - the adult world of work. This qualitative study views the different aspects of transition in the lives of three youth (two males and one female) as they follow a Vocational Habilitation Programme at the Eden Ability Centre. Whilst rightfully being given the opportunity to prove themselves and their potential, the experience these youth encounter brings forth the importance of such programmes as life is given a "fuller" meaning through work.
