Abstract: | History and historical have been keywords in the philosophy of western Europe virtually since the Renaissance. And yet, our contemporary world is faced by a crisis o the humanities because the evidence that deals with man's past whether that evidence happens to be documentary or not. Hence, there is an indissoluble link between history and archaeology. of a lack of historical perspective. There is in fact a sense in which the study of history ought to permeate every area of research. Hence, we encounter the history of science, the history of philosophy, the history of archaeology and so on and so forth. |
