Orientation to work of a commission agent : the case of the lotto receiver

Abstract

Through this long essay, it's my intention to attempt a qualitative analysis of the work of the Lotto Receiver. Most studies or workers have focused on general orientation to work of employees with a fixed income rather to others who work for a commission only. It is thus helpful to find out whether commission Lotto Receivers view work differently from employees, and if so, how and why. This work will therefore be set against other work carried out in this field, and comparisons and contrasts made. It is hoped that this essay will fuel studies of other commission agents' view of work to bring out a more realistic labour market policy especially with the oncoming liberalisation and privatisation process.
