Abstract: | In this dissertation the scene is set of how the Maltese roads network are a maze of route labyrinths where a degree of high risk is present. This has been statistically proven from such data as the number of vehicles on the road to the number of road accidents. The various tradesmen who perform their duties on Maltese roads are all, to one degree or another, exposed to some risk of Injury. This dissertation also highlights how works have been done over the years, from the highly labour intensive days to the use of complex modem machinery, as well as the accountability of works on roads and certain work procedures. The effects of modernisation on health and safety standards on Maltese roads are also reflected upon. Arguments generated from the analysis of the case studies and questionnaire work conclude with the necessary recommendations, which emerge as a result of this work. |
