dc.description.abstract | This study highlights the existing problems the development which warehousing and storage facilities faces. Given that the issues raised are intended to be listed and presented to the Structure Plan reviewers, it is aimed at the existing policies, the conflicts and doubts found within, difficulties the Development Control finds in adopting strategically these policies and also the conflicts with other agencies. This study has also taken on board, present and future requirements presented by this sector of the economy. Other then recommending amendments to the existing policies, a step further has been taken in order to propose sites within the Northern and Southern central regions of the island. The purpose to propose sites is intended for the Local Planning Unit, to consider during the preparation of the local Plans and Action Plans in the effected areas, although it recommends that these sites are to be listed as part of proposed amended policies. Other proposal also shall include amendments to design guidelines, parking requirements as per table A2.5 of the Explanatory Memorandum, and other collating conditions. Justification to all proposals is found within the text, which is formulated upon gathered figures and facts, but, presented in a form of discussion for the ease of understanding. Finally it is to be noted that, the three main goals presented within the Structure Plan for the Maltese Islands, December 1990 issue, have been kept in mind throughout the whole process in order to reach the required objectives and overall strategy. | en_GB |
