| Abstract: | Our aim in this section is to reproduce from literature and analyse thematically (Braun & Clarke, 2006) the incidents leading to the collapse of and large losses faced by financial firms when using derivatives. Since literature has indicated that this instrument plays a major role in the bank debacles, we are curious to find out how and whether derivatives caused or helped cause these problems. |
