Abstract: Schemes Programmes, Training Programmes, Employment and Training Corporation. The aim of this study is to provide a critical analysis of the active labour market policies currently employed by the ETC and what effects are they having on the Labour Market. Unemployment is composed of different people, having different needs, skills, attitudes and age. ETC divides unemployed people into different groups that share some common conditions such as age and disadvantaged persons. Strategies are aimed to cater for a particular group. This way programmes can be more effective, as they are made to measure to address each group's difficulties. The difficulties youths face upon entering the labour market cannot be addressed in the same manner as those faced by the unemployed aged 40 and over. ETC's Objectives: • to provide and maintain an employment service • to find suitable employment and to assist employers to find suitable employees • to provide training service to clients seeking new jobs and to clients already on the job but wanting to improve their knowledge and skills [...]
