Abstract: | The aim of this essay is to identify the impact of human resource policies on working mothers and suggest recommendations. Working mothers have the need and feel the obligation of reconciling family needs with the needs of the work place. Some of them find this quite difficult and with the help and introduction of new policies by HR managers, these problems could be reduced drastically. The essay identifies the needs and suggests options how these needs can be achieved. To be able to recognise what working mothers want and what policies are available today both locally and globally, the legal framework, collective agreements and policies were analysed in the local scene, while from the international scene the policies adopted in these countries were analysed. In addition to this a survey conducted by the National Council of Women amongst HR managers was taken under consideration. To have a better true and real image of the actual situation a questionnaire amongst working mothers was conducted. The concluding part is made up of findings and recommendations match the needs of working mothers with the needs of the workplace through HR policies. |
