Abstract: To put forward a review of the main amendments that have been introduced into the Employment and Industrial Relations Act (EIRA) as a drive for Malta to remain at par with European Union standards. This study is an investigation into the level of involvement and commitment of the Social Partners towards the amending of the Conditions of Employment Relations Act (CERA) and the Industrial Relations Act (IRA). This investigation was carried out by making use of structured interviews with the Social Partners concerned and also by researching into documentations made available by the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin (UĦM), the Malta Employers Association (MEA), the Malta-EU Information Centre (MIC), the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations (DIER), various local newspaper articles and various websites. A number of recommendations will be put forward.
