Abstract: | Gender Discrimination, Potentials, Frustration, Marginalised, Stigmatised, Glass-ceiling, Transition, Non-Traditional working women, Imbalance, Equality. The aim of this study has been to establish problems being faced by female academics at the University of Malta. Although, during these last few years, the number of female academics has risen slightly, a gap has remained between the female and male academics. I have based my study that female academics should have more time, academic support and family encouragement to further her study. I have made use of a questionnaire to establish whether such disadvantages exist. An analysis of replies by a sample population supports such hypothesis. Furthermore, other barriers have been identified, namely social isolation, bullying from male academics, and official policies. |
