Its mission is to respond productively to the increased need for literacy and other basic skills issues to be addressed in both professional development and research.
Our Centre is involved in policy advice, consultancies and training for different educational and professional bodies, ministries, national agencies and institutions. These include the Ministry for Education and Employment and other ministries, the National Literacy Agency, Jobs Plus, the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), the Foundation for Educational Services (FES), State, Private and Church schools and a number of non-governmental organisations.
We strive to improve practice and inform policy through the generation of knowledge by creating a strong research culture and by developing professional practice. It is committed to the promotion of high quality research and its effective communication, especially in areas related to children's literacy and to maintaining strong partnerships with schools and the wider educational community.
