Venue: Malta Society of Arts, Palazzo de la Salle, Valletta
Joanne Camilleri will be giving a solo piano recital on Sunday 23 June 2024 at 18:00, at the Malta Society of Arts, Palazzo de la Salle, Valletta. The programme will feature Beethoven’s monumental Hammerklavier Sonata.
The Hammerklavier is regarded one of the composer’s most important works and among the greatest piano sonatas of all time. It is considered as Beethoven’s most technically challenging piano composition, with its first public performance being only documented around 20 years later, given by Franz Liszt. It is an extraordinary, colossal work, bursting with heroism, power, pathos, human frailty, and an unbelievable depth of expression.
Tickets can be obtained either online or at the door.
Dr Camilleri is Visiting Lecturer at the School of Performing Arts, Music Department. She has performed around Europe and in Africa as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as in Asia and the United States as an orchestral pianist with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Joanne’s discography includes Bach’s Goldberg Variations, In Bach’s Footsteps and Chopin: The 24 Preludes.
