Moviment Graffitti and the Embassy of the State of Palestine are holding the event 'Narrating Palestine: Stories of Oppression and Resistance' on Friday 1 December at 19:30 at the KSU Common Room, University of Malta Msida Campus.

 

An evening dedicated to stories of oppression and resistance as told by Palestinian authors and movie directors, followed by Palestinian food and music. Free entrance.

About the speakers

 

Walid Nabhan is a Palestinian author living in Malta. He has translated a number of Ghassan Kanafani's works, a prominent Palestinian author and political activist who was murdered by the Mossad (Israel’s secret services) in 1972.

 

Adrian Grima will read an excerpt from the diary he is writing about his visit to Palestine, together with his wife Nathalie, his son Rafel, and writer Walid Nabhan. The working title of this diary or travel log is "Wied in-Nar. Disat Ijiem fil-Palestina" (The Valley of Fire. Nine days in Palestine).

 

Jean Paul Borg has translated Suad Amiry’s ‘Sharon and my mother-in-law’ to Maltese and is now giving the final touches to the translation of ‘My Damascus’, the latest work by the same author. He will be talking about why he decided to translate Suad’s work and the experience of translating a Palestinian's work.
