Transitions. A Panel Discussion
As part of the activities organised during World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW), the Edward de Bono Institute for the Design and Development of Thinking is hosting a panel discussion that will take place on Thursday 19 April at 10:00 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall. Students are invited to attend.
Members on the panel will include Ms Davinia Mallia Pule from NGAGE and www.buzymummy.com, Ms Saz Mifsud from Saz Mifsud design house and Mr Kurt Mifsud founder of the Mediterranean Culinary Academy.
Students will have the opportunity to actively engage in the panel discussion.
The three business owners who will share their experience about how they pursued a dream or how they seized an opportunity to shape the initiatives that they embarked on. It will be interesting to see how the different perspectives of the panel members will animate and develop the discussion.
The panel will be moderated by Dr Margaret Mangion.
About the Speakers
Saz Mifsud is a Malta based design house focused on digitally printed silks. The brand was launched in 2013 by fashion designer and artist Saz Mifsud after she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Print Design from the University for the Creative Arts in Kent. Mifsud merges the worlds of art and fashion. Her paintings and photographs are beautifully translated into silk fabrics which she uses to create clothing and fashion accessories.
The brand specialises in women's accessories, namely silk scarves and evening bags. Bursting with rich colours, interestingly blended together onto luxurious silks, Saz's pieces are truly cherished by the women who own them.
Davinia Mallia Pule began her career in marketing management over 15 years ago at a leading advertising agency where she led the marketing team for over 3 years. She then joined local bottlers of Coca-Cola as Marketing Manager for 4 years, following which she joined leading FMCG company Alf Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Ltd as Sales & Brand Manager for over 5 years. She is now founder and marketing specialist at Ngage, a marketing and PR agency that aims to offer expert marketing services with a focus on engaging customers, whether it is online, in-store, during an event or via traditional media. Davinia is also founder of blog-style website buzymummy.com and newly launched soparents.com.
Kurt Mifsud is a gastronome by profession, Kurt started his career in food at the age of 18 working in fine dining and fast casual restaurants. He then went on to study at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy where he contributed to the organisation of the University’s first ever study trip to Malta. In Oct 2015, he led the Maltese delegation to the First Edition of the “Slow Food Youth Network International Conference” at the Milan Expo.
In 2016 Kurt founded the Mediterranean Culinary Academy and has led the project as the C.E.O. The academy has started running it's first set of courses in January 2018.
World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW) was first launched in 2001 and is now celebrated in an ever growing number of countries. The aim of WCIW is to inspire new thinking and to foster a culture for creativity and innovation.
The United Nations resolved to include World Creativity and Innovation Day, 21 April as a Day of Observance to encourage people to use creativity in problem-solving for all issues related to achieving the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals.
In celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week, the Edward de Bono Institute is organising the following events:
Creativity. It can work for you too.
This event is being held at Speedcast a global organisation with offices in Malta. This activity will involve an introduction to creative thinking and how creative thinking methods may be used at individual, group and organisation levels to gain leverage.

Artists Unite for Animal Shelters
The Edward de Bono Institute is teaming up with Star Events to organise Artists Unite for Animal Shelters, a feast of artistic creativity will take place at Chateaux Buskett. This event will consist of a fun filled afternoon where the audience can enjoy performances from different dance schools and companies. Staff members and students from the Edward de Bono Institute will be on site providing a variety of simple yet interactive activities that stimulate creativity. There will be something for all ages. The general public is invited to attend.
All proceeds from the event will go to support animal shelters.

BRND WGN Strategic Creative Powerhouse
Another event organised by the Edward de Bono Institute will be hosted by Mr Peter-Jan Grech CEO and Founder at BRND WGN Strategic Creative Powerhouse. During this event, key members of the organisation will be working with students on the Master in Creativity and Innovation at the University of Malta. The creative processes involved in acquiring new clients and serving the clients successfully will be explored during an interactive session.

From mum to mumpreneur: How to come up with potential business ideas
The workshop is aimed at women who are interested in starting a business but are still trying to figure out what might work, and who would like to explore how to come up with potential ideas for a new venture.

In celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week 2018, the Edward de Bono Institute will be hosting a panel discussion with Ms Davinia Mallia Pule of NGAGE – Marketing- PR- Events and Buzzymummy.com, Ms Saz Mifsud of Saz Mifsud Design House and Mr Kurt Mifsud founder of the Mediterranean Culinary Academy. All speakers were able to seize business opportunities that shaped their businesses.
The audience, made up of University students, will have the opportunity to actively engage in the panel discussion.

Making Time for Creativity
This event is being held at Ernst and Young Malta. This activity will involve an interactive session focusing on wellbeing in the workplace and creativity. The session will involve practical tips including breathing exercise for stress relief followed by an introduction to creative thinking and how creative thinking methods may be used across the organisation.

Creativity e-tool launch workshop
An ERASMUS+ project entitled CREMO kicked off in September 2015 with the aim of developing online Creativity training games for students and educators. The University of Malta, through The Edward de Bono Institute for the Design and Development of Thinking, is a partner in this project. The launch of the Academy for Creativity e-platform will be held on Friday 20 April 2018, as part of the celebrations for World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW). This is aimed at developing students’ understanding of creativity and helping them to become more creative in the process. The workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the e-creativity tool and listen to experts discussing creativity and online learning in the digital age.
