Dr Chiara Cecalupo will deliver a lecture at the International Institute for Baroque Studies titled 'Collections in the Baroque Age.' The lecture, which will also be open to members of the general public, will be held on Wednesday 20 March at 16:15 at the Roi Soleil Resource Centre, Room 307, Faculty for the Built Environment.

The lecture will focus on the collections in the Baroque age. It will give a general account of the development of a new collection style that started among the most important families of Rome in the 16th century and spread in Europe, Malta included, throughout the 17th century. The lecture will give examples of objects included in these collections such as art pieces, antiquities, naturalia, and other curiosities. It will reflect the social role of collections and collectors in Baroque society. 

Dr Chiara Cecalupo completed her Ph.D. in 'Museology and History of Christian Archaeology' at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology (Rome). She is teaching assistant for 'History of collections and museums' at University of Pisa and an independent contractor of the Institute of Ancient Mediterranean of Italian National Research Centre. Her researches and publications focus on the history of archaeology and archaeological collections especially in 16th, 17th and early 18th century.
