The University Cottonera Resource Centre in Malta is currently holding a series of sessions, on Mondays and Thursdays, 18:00 to 19:30, as part of a Community Engagement programme based on themes that capture the community's popular imagination.
The theme is Holy Week from which different knowledge regarding history, gender politics, film, environment, etc can be drawn. The project, in Maltese, is free of charge and open to everyone. It is being held for the second time and constitutes an example of University Community engagement.
Themes covered so far are: Overview of Holy Week in Malta and Gozo in historical and contemporary perspective (Dr Joseph F Grima), Gender and the Holy Week (Ms Nathalie Grima), Imperialism in Roman times (Prof. Anthony Bonanno), Imperialism /Colonialism then and Now (Prof. Peter Mayo) and Reformation and Sacred Music Music (Mr Eric Montfort). Forthcoming themes include Spirituality and Holy Week (Mgr. Alfred Vella), Film and Holy Week (Mr Michael Grech), Music and Holy Week (Mr Eric Montfort), Food and Holy Week (Prof. Susanne Piscopo), Environment and Holy Week (Ms Anna Spiteri), Art and Holy Week (Dr Sandro Debono) and Politics and Holy Week (Prof. Peter Mayo).
