The next talk in the series Malta Café Scientifique will be held on Wednesday 8 May in Studio B, Music Room, Spazju Kreattiv.
Title: Entangled Islands
Speaker: Prof. André Xuereb
Time: 19:30
Doors open at 19:00 and seats are on a first come first served basis.
Abstract:
Entanglement is one of the most mysterious and astonishing features of quantum mechanics. No doubt that Einstein would have been amazed to see how what he famously called "spooky action at a distance" is now the basis of completely new technologies. In this talk Prof. Xuereb from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science at the University of Malta will introduce the concept of entanglement starting from scratch. Prof. Xuereb will show how together with a group of researchers recently entangled Malta and Sicily, and will explain how this fantastic new tool can help give humanity super-secure communication systems, super-fast computers, and teleportation.
