Short Bio of Guest Speaker:

Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Professor of Computer Science, Dean at College of Computer Science & Information Systems and Acting Rector, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), has received BSc (Hons) and M.Sc degrees in Computer Science from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan and his PhD in Computer Applications from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He has more than 27 years of extensive and diverse experience as an administrator, computer programmer, researcher, and teacher. As an administrator, He served as Coordinator, Head of Department, Head of Faculty, Dean of Faculty, Head of Academic Affairs, Acting Rector and has wide experience in accreditation related matters, including ABET, HEC Pakistan and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor (2021-2023).

He is a Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE computer society, and IEEE Geosciences & RS Society since 2005 and IEEE Member since 2000. Member Project Management Institute (PMI) since 2007. Senior Member, International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT) since 2012. Life Member, Computer Society of Pakistan (CSP) since 1999. Global Member, Internet Society (ISOC), U.S.A., since 2006. Member ACM since 2019. He has been an active member of the IEEE Karachi Section (Region 10), currently serving as Vice-Chair Karachi Section (2020-21), Member Executive Committee (ExCom) for 2017-21, IEEE R10 Southern Area Coordinator Computer Society (2020-21), Member IEEE R10 Education Activity Committee (EAC) (2021-22) and previously served as Secretary Karachi Section (2018-19), Chair GOLD Affinity Group and Member Executive Committee 2014, branch councillor (2002 & 2016). He is a member of Task Force on Arabic Script IDNs by Middle East Strategy Working Group (MESWG) of ICANN. He also received the ISOC Fellowship to the IETF for the 68th Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting in Prague 2007.
