Outer space is an extremely hostile environment for human life because some of the environmental factors can potentially increase cancer risks. Here on Earth, women already have a higher incidence of radiation-induced cancers, such as lung, thyroid, breast, and ovarian cancers. In the study that will be presented at this event, Prof. Jean Calleja Agius focuses on the effects of microgravity and radiation on the female reproductive system, particularly gynecological cancer. Join Malta Café Scientifique’s event on Wednesday 3 May at 19:00, Studio B (Music room), at Spazju Kreattiv where Prof. Agius will present her research.
