In the run-up to the International Day of Yoga 2023, the High Commission of India in collaboration with the University of Malta will organize a curtain-raiser yoga event for students and staff on Tuesday 16 May from 11:00 until 12:30. This yoga event will be held in the Atriju Vassalli (Quadrangle) at the University of Malta. Participation is free of charge, however attendees are requested to register their interest online.
The first 50 attendees to register will be provided with yoga mats. Attendees need to report at least 15 minutes before to be allotted their mats. The mats are the property of the High Commission of India and are to be returned after the event. Further participants wishing to attend are invited to bring their own mats.
Participants are advised to wear loose fitting clothes, to keep hydrated and apply sun protection given that the event will be taking place outdoors. It is advised that all participants join the event from the start to ensure that they take full advantage of the demonstration given by the Yoga expert.
At the initiative of India, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing Yoga. The High Commission of India will be organising a series of events to celebrate IDY 2023.
