The Earth Systems Association (ESA), in collaboration with the Institute of Earth Systems, is organising a presentation and Q&A session on the topic of renewable energy, to be held on Thursday 26 October at the University of Malta Msida Campus.
Dr Jaquelin Cochran will address the evolution and challenges in electrical grid infrastructure in the light of the increasing deployment of renewable energy sources, drawing on her experience as Director of the Grid Planning and Analysis Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the US, a position she has held for the last fourteen years.
Dr Cochran is a prominent figure in the field of renewable energy, and holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. from the Energy & Resources Group at the University of California at Berkeley. She recently led the Los Angeles 100% Renewable Energy Study and also conducted a portfolio of analyses about India’s power system. Dr Cochran has also worked in Kazakhstan and Poland, and she will illustrate her presentation with case studies drawn from her professional experience over the years.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and discussion, and participants are encouraged to prepare questions relevant to their particular areas of interest and to their own research in this field.
Attendance is open to all UM and Junior College students, and to academic staff members from both institutions. Interested individuals are kindly requested to register online for the event, and any queries should be addressed to the Earth Systems Association by email.
