Title: Sustainability Laboratory Sessions at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences
Date: 6 and 7 November 2023
Time: Between 15:00 and 18:00
Venue: Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences
The Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences will be hosting two Sustainability Laboratory Sessions on 6 and 7 November 2023.
The first will be for Media teachers and lecturers and the second for Journalists and Journalism academics. The laboratory sessions will be led by Dr Monika Maslowska and Prof. Ä orġ Mallia and will form part of the Sustainable Multidimensional Media Contents (SUMED) project in which MAKS’s Department of Media and Communications is a partner.
The Department is collaborating with four higher education institutions, INNOCAMP PL (Poland), University of Gdańsk (Poland), University of Turku (Finland), and The Technical University of Valencia (Spain) in the SUMED project, which has been granted Erasmus+ funding.
SUMED aims to empower European HEIs and media teachers to incorporate sustainability principles into the ever-evolving landscape of digital media channels and production techniques. It is a collaborative endeavour that involves active participation from students (Bachelors and Masters), media teachers, as well as stakeholders. The proposed green alternatives, based on criteria from the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) by the European Commission, are being incorporated in our piloted and researched media curricula, course (re)design, and tools. These practical changes also serve as models for creating work-oriented learning environments with a focus on sustainability.
The Sustainability Laboratory sessions will be held between 15:00 and 18:00. Anybody interested in joining the sessions or would like to get more information, is asked to write an email to Dr Maslowska.
