Abstract:

This seminar discusses the nature of segregation between gated community residents (middle-class Indian repatriate IT workers), their service providers and the rest of the city, prior to and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Connections are made between cleanliness, class, Hinduism and altruism. It debates the idea of whether a gated community could enable forms of collective collaboration with the city.
