Time: 14:00 - 16:00
Venue: Online (via Zoom)
Abstract
In this two-hour session, we will take a whistle-stop tour of current topics in language generation via brief presentations of some of our research group's current work. Topics include data-to-text generation, controlled text generation, evaluation of control, reproducibility of evaluations in NLP, parameter-efficient finetuning of LLMs, and combining neural and symbolic approaches to generation.
Part 1: Overview of research group and work
Part 2: WebNLG 2023
- WebNLG 2023 introduction & general results
- Winning system in WebNLG 2023
- Runner-up system for Irish in WebNLG 2023
Part 3: Evaluation
- Human evaluation of semantic errors in different 2020 and 2023 WebNLG systems
- Introduction to reproducibility
- Current work in the ReproHum project on Reproducibility of human evaluations of NLP system
Part 4: Parameter-Efficient Finetuning
- Introduction to parameter-efficient finetuning (PEFT) techniques
