Event: Celebration Of 20 years Anniversary from The Foundation of the Centre for Environmental Education and Research (CEER)

The year 2024 will see the Centre for Environmental Education and Research (CEER) celebrating its 20th anniversary. CEER was established in 2004, in anticipation of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 – 2014).
CEER’s mission is to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and related research, as well as act as a catalyst for change towards a sustainable society. This remains as relevant today as it did two decades ago. Over these past 20 years CEER has established itself as the foremost ESD agency and reference point in Malta, offering the necessary expertise whilst serving as a central connecting node between different stakeholders and actors in the fields that are relevant to ESD.
In pursuit of its mission CEER conducts research on effective strategies for fostering change and collaborates with government, industry, and private entities on policy formulation related to sustainability. It also spearheads various educational initiatives, both in formal settings and with the community.
As part of the celebrations relating to this 20-year-milestone, CEER will be organising a local conference in June, aimed at highlighting its achievements and reflecting its mission in light of contemporary and future challenges and realities. The conference aims to not only showcase alumni’s work, but also advocates for their ongoing efforts as change agents across various sectors. The event has four main objectives:
- Provide a platform for CEER alumni and associates to present their work and engage participants.
- Facilitate networking opportunities for practitioners, researchers, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Showcase ESD work by various NGOs and stakeholders through exhibition booths.
- Develop an action plan for national ESD provision and enhance CEER's effectiveness in achieving its goals.
