The Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta is proud to announce the premiere screening of Ħofor and Zombie Apocalypsis, two short films produced by the students of the M.A. in Film Studies.
The films will be screened on Sunday 23 June at 18:00 in Aula Prima, University of Malta, Valletta Campus.
Following previous fruitful collaborations, the M.A. programme is pleased to welcome back renowned film directors Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino, who are currently overseeing the production and shooting stages of the two short films.
The scripts were written by the students themselves while following intensive units on scriptwriting under the tutelage of Franz Rodenkirchen and Françoise von Roy, two of the most sought-after script consultants in Europe.
Short film synopses:
Ħofor
Thankgod Okoronkwo is a weary taxi driver with a fragile optimism to life. But a chance encounter with a drunken man in the dead of night challenges his outlook on the human condition.
Zombie Apocalypsis
Amidst familial conflict and the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a woman strives to reclaim her sense of self.
The Master of Arts in Film Studies course combines both theoretical aspects and practical components, during which students collectively plan and shoot their short films, developing them from the initial stage of scriptwriting to post-production. To help students reach their full potential and adhere to the tight schedules these projects demand, internationally acclaimed directors active in the European film industry are invited each year to act as mentors.
The course is sponsored by the Malta Film Commission. Further information may be obtained via the website or by contacting the course coordinator, Prof. Gloria Lauri-Lucente, via email.
The general public is cordially invited to the screening. Entrance is free. Reservation is not mandatory, but seating is limited, so if you would like to reserve a seat, please contact Mr Richard Gambin on 2340 4425 or via email.
