In a rapidly changing world, what does it mean to be a man in Malta?
As traditional roles evolve and societal expectations shift, Maltese men find themselves navigating a complex landscape of identity, responsibility, and cultural heritage.
There’s pressures to uphold longstanding traditions, but in parallel to those, there are the modern values of equality and self-expression. Through these conflicting ideas, the concept of masculinity in Malta is being redefined.
In recognition of International Men’s Day, the Equity Office is organising a teach-in on the evolving roles, expectations, and expressions of masculinities within Malta's modern landscape. Together, we will explore how these ideas impact social dynamics, individual identities, and cultural norms in our community.
This event will spark insightful discussions on key topics including:
- Digital gaming
- Maltese literature
- Online misogyny and toxicity
- Education
- Religion and faith
- Marriage and raising children
