Title: Alberto Manzi (Rome, 1924 - Pitigliano, 1997) Birth Centenary Webfest
Date: Tuesday 10 December 2024
Time: 16:00 - 18:35
Venue: Online through Zoom
The University of Malta UNESCO Chair in Global Adult Education will be holding the Alberto Manzi (Rome, 1924 - Pitigliano, 1997) Birth Centenary Webfest.
The webcast on Tuesday 10 December, celebrating the birth centenary of Italian TV adult educator, Alberto Manzi, will be in Italian and English. Manzi contributed to making thousands of Italians literate through his RAI TV programme 'Non è mai troppo tardi' in the early 60s. He was also involved in spreading literacy in Latin America where he was regarded by right wing forces in Bolivia as left-oriented, tortured and declared persona non grata.
This is the first of three webfests this December organised by the UNESCO Chair in Global Adult Education. On Tuesday 17 December, a memorial web session will be held in honour of bell hooks who passed away three years ago. On Thursday 19 December a webfest will be held to mark the 50th Anniversary of the widely celebrated '150 hours' Italian experiment in Working Class Education.
All three bfests in December 2024 we will be through this Zoom link.
