The Department of International Relations, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Malta, is hosting a public lecture on 'The United States 2016 Elections: Foreign Policy – Past, Present and Future', by Dr Paul Sracic from Youngstown State University, Ohio.  This event will take place on Monday 17 October at 13:00 in IT Services Building, VC Hall 101.

Paul Sracic is Professor and Chair of the Department of Politics and International Relations at Youngstown State University in Ohio. Dr Sracic was selected as a 2009 Fulbright Scholar in Japan, and spent a year teaching at the University of Tokyo. He was invited back to Japan in 2012 as part of the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office Visiting Experts Program.

 

Dr Sracic holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University, and an B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Albright College. His most recent book, Ohio Government and Politics (co-authored with William Binning), was published by Sage/Congressional Quarterly Press in March of this year. His previous book, San Antonio v. Rodriguez and the Pursuit of Equal Education (University Press of Kansas, 2006), was part of a series that was given the Scribes Award for legal scholarship at the 2008 meeting of the American Bar Association.

In addition to his scholarly writing, Dr Sracic is a frequent contributor to the op-ed pages in the United States. His articles on American and international politics and law have appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, Bloomberg, Inside Higher Ed., The Atlantic.com, and CNN.com. Dr Sracic has given lectures at the U.S. Embassies in Tokyo, Japan, Brussels, Belgium, China, Belgium, Latvia, and Lithuania. He has also been interviewed on CNN, NPR, and China Radio International. In 2015, he recorded a TEDx talk entitled Ohio, the Swing State.
