On 4 December 2024, the Junior College Diversity Committee will host a compelling panel discussion for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event, titled Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future, aligns with this year's United Nations theme for the day.
The panel will feature esteemed speakers who have a leadership position and are actively engaged in advocating for the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities. The lineup includes:
- Ms Rhoda Garland, Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disability
- Dr Vickie Gauci, Senior Lecturer for Disability Studies at the Faculty of Social Wellbeing
- Mr Oliver Scicluna, CEO of Agenzija Sapport.
The discussion will take place at 09:00 hrs in Room D216. It will explore themes such as empowering leadership, fostering inclusivity, and building sustainable futures that accommodate everyone's potential. This session will serve as a platform for critical conversations about how society can better recognise and amplify the contributions of persons with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in every aspect of life.
We strongly encourage students and staff to attend this important event, to educate themselves, celebrate this day and be inspired towards both leadership and advocacy for inclusion.
