The Physics Department organised the second Applied Physics Workshop this year entitled “Exploring Physics ” at Tas-Silg Marsaxlokk from Friday 28 February to Sunday 2 March 2025. A number of first and second year students taking Physics at Advanced or Intermediate levels, accompanied by the subject coordinator Ms Antonia Vella, attended this activity.
This activity started with an icebreaking activity so that the students got to know each other. On Friday evening, the students had a treasure hunt organised by a past Junior College student Maria Victoria Vella. On Saturday morning, the students had a quiz on Physics first year topics followed by a short explanation of the ear model and function. The students also did a hearing test. After lunch the students were taken for a walk in the countryside. This was followed by an interesting talk “Shakes and Quakes” by Professor Pauline Galea. In the evening, the students had a scavenger hunt which they really enjoyed. On Sunday morning they had team building activities related to Physics organised by Ms Antonia Vella and Ms Maria Victoria Vella. The workshop ended with a mass celebrated by the JC chaplain, Fr Jesmond Grech. Each student was given a certificate of participation.
