Mr Roderick Vassallo, Vice Principal, along with Dr Joe Doublet, Natural Science Area Coordinator, and Ms Petra Paula Spiteri, Biology Subject Coordinator, attended a job shadowing experience at Nord-Østerdal videregående School (NØVGS) in Tynset, Norway, between 12 and 14 March 2025.
The job shadowing programme included an introduction to the Norwegian education system, school management, and inclusive teaching practices. A guided tour provided insight into the school's facilities and learning environment. Sessions covered special language teaching, combination classes, and student-centered learning approaches.
Dr Doublet and Ms Spiteri observed and participated in a biology class, exchanging pedagogical strategies with local educators. Discussions on methods of assessment, AI in education, and mental health initiatives offered valuable perspectives on modern teaching challenges.
The Maltese delegation also experienced Norwegian culture, including a traditional Sami lunch and a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Røros.
This enriching visit fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing, equipping the team with new ideas to enhance their own educational practices.
This project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Accreditation of the Junior College, and coordinated by the JC International Office.
