The Linguistics Olympiad Malta is a problem solvers’ challenge in the spirit of the International Linguistics Olympiad. The competition challenges participants to analyse the grammar, structure, culture, and history of different languages and to demonstrate their linguistic abilities through puzzles and problem-solving challenges, which encourage creativity and imagination, and enhance pattern analysis and decoding skills. Malta has successfully participated in the international competition earlier this year, with a team consisting of 4 students from different sixth forms including Junior College. This year the competition is being organised again by the Institute of Linguistics and Language Technology of the University of Malta, and an information session for interested students will be held on Wednesday 13 November at 14:15 in Room C013.
