As part of the Philosophy Society JC Enrichment Programme, the Department of Philosophy organised a one-day seminar for Philosophy students on Wednesday 5 March 2025 at Mount Saint Joseph in Mosta. A total of 25 students participated in this seminar. The students were given the opportunity to hand-pick philosophical topics they are interested in learning more about.
The seminar opened with a talk by Dr Michael Zammit on early Greek philosophy and the love of wisdom. This was followed by Mr Nikolai Zammit, who examined the intersection of Philosophy and Literature, with a focus on Existentialist literature. Students then engaged in a Socratic dialogue, debating philosophical positions and refining their arguments through critical discussion. The day concluded with a thought-provoking conversation between Mr Gabriel Zammit and Mr Francesco Frendo on the relevance of Philosophy in the art world.
Accompanied by Ms Natasha Galea and Mr Francesco Frendo, the students actively participated in discussions, making the seminar a resounding success. The Department of Philosophy extends its gratitude to all attendees and speakers who contributed to this enriching experience. We look forward to organising similar events in the future!
