March 14 is Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical constant Л.  The date was selected because the numerical date (3.14) represents the first three digits of Л, and it also happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday. To celebrate this number, the Department of Mathematics is organising a pie and bake sale in the Foyer from 9:30 to 14:00.  So join us in celebrating Pi – all proceeds will go to The Malta Trust Foundation.  There will also be activities at 10:00 and 11:00 in the Foyer where different methods for estimating the value of Л will be explored.
