CPD Session 1
The CPD committee welcomes members of staff to the first presentation /discussion in the academic year. This session will be presented and led by Dr George Cremona.
Several lecturers believe that words (i.e. verbal channels) are the strongest and most vociferous tools which they can make use while they are teaching. During this session, this perception will be critically discussed and participants will be continuously involved in several practical hands-on activities. Through these activities, the participants will initially identify and reflect on the obvious non-verbal body related tools which complement their verbal communication in class. Later, the discussion will focus on less obvious body language related tools. During this session, a practical checklist will be compiled and this should serve as a guiding reference for lecturers in their daily teaching activities.
Participants are kindly asked to bring their mobile phone and, if possible, a pair of earphones to this session.
Dr George Cremona is the Coordinator for German programmes offered by the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta. He lectures in German language teaching methodology and gives lectures about multimodality. He also coordinates the Media Literacy VET Programmes of the Faculty of Education.
Members of staff who would like to attend this session are kindly requested to book a place at the Office of the Principal or send an email to the Office of the Principal.
A certificate of participation of attended CPD talks will be awarded at the end of the academic year.
