On Thursday, 30 May, a group of Junior College students, accompanied by Media Literacy Project coordinator Samuel Stellini, attended a debate held between MEP candidates in Valletta. The debate was hosted by MaltaToday and LovinMalta, and funded by the European Parliament.
The students, who are participants in the Media Literacy Project, an Enrichment Programme Unit (EP Unit), are tasked with writing a report analysing the media aspects of the event. Their analysis will cover aspects such as funding, types of media used, promotion of the event, target audience, content, post-event reporting, and media bias.
This activity is part of Junior College's efforts to expose students to real-life scenarios and encourage them to take an interest in politics, given their right to vote.
The Media Literacy Project is an EP Unit designed for students who are passionate about media, journalism, and current affairs. It promotes critical thinking, as well as cultural and civic literacy.
