The Faculty for Social Wellbeing organised, for the first time, a Stakeholders' Meeting on 26 April.
The event, held at the University of Malta Valletta Campus, was an opportunity for the Faculty to engage with the numerous stakeholders and partners in the social welfare field. The objective of this meeting was for the Faculty to share the work it is doing and for stakeholders to voice what they wish and expect the Faculty to address as far as the curriculum and the way it operates are concerned.
The Dean, Dr Andrew Azzopardi in his opening address said that this pact of collaboration is at the core of the Faculty's mission and that are immediate and long-term targets cannot be achieved if the Faculty is not in sync with the Service providers and Service Users.
The Heads of Department of the Faculty explained the roles, ethos and courses offered by the respective Departments.
Almost 50 stakeholders attended this event, namely NGOs, Commissioners, local politicians, MEPs and State Agencies. Present at the meeting were the Minister for the Family, Social Solidarity Dr Michael Farrugia and the Shadow Minister the Hon. Dr Paula Mifsud Bonnici and Pro-Rectors Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino and Prof. Joe Cacciotolo.
Prof. Baldacchino closed the stakeholders' meeting by commending the initiative and the positive work that the Faculty is doing in reaching out to its social partners.
